Street vendors over Bengaluru are asking the city officials to make special areas where they can sell their things. This is because the city officials are taking action against people who are using the footpaths and public spaces in the wrong way. The city officials want to make it easier for people to walk on the footpaths and reduce the traffic on the roads.. This is making many street vendors very worried about how they will make a living. So they are asking again for the city to be planned in a way that includes them and is fair, to everyone. Street vendors really need the city officials to create these vending zones so that they can keep selling their things without any problems.

The people in charge led by Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike are working with the traffic police to make the roads better. They want to make sure the busy roads, shopping areas and roads that people use to get to work are clear. Places like Majestic KR Market, Yelahanka, Shivajinagar and some parts of the business district have had people checking on them a lot. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike and traffic police have been taking away things that people should not have on the road and removing the shops that people set up on the road over the past few days. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike is doing this to make the roads safer and nicer, for everyone.

Street vendors say that they get why the city needs to keep things safe and orderly.. They also think that there are not enough other places for them to sell their things. This has put them in a spot. A lot of these vendors need to make money every day so they can take care of their families. They say that when the city suddenly kicks them out it hurts their ability to make a living and they do not get any help to find a place to sell. The groups that represent these vendors are asking the city to do a job of following the Street Vendors Act. They want the city to find areas where it’s okay for vendors to sell their things.

The people who sell things from vendors say that having areas for vendors would be good for both the sellers and the people who buy from them. “We do not mind following rules” said a person who sells food on the street near a metro station. “We just want to be able to sell our food from one place without being told to leave” the street food vendor said. The vendors also said that if they had their areas it would be cleaner, easier to get around and people would like buying from them more. The vendors think this would also help make sure the rules are enforced all the time, for all the vendors.

BBMP officials say they do not want to hurt the people who sell things on the street. They just want to make sure everyone is safe. They also want to make it easy for people to walk on the sidewalks. The people who live and work in the area have been complaining a lot.

When there are many vendors it gets very crowded. There is also a lot of trash. It is hard for emergency vehicles to get through.

The city officials are looking at the city to see where vendors can and cannot sell things. They are trying to find a solution that works for everyone. BBMP officials and city officials are working on this problem. They want to make the city a better place, for the people who live there and for the vendors who sell things on the street.

People who know a lot about cities think that we need to find a ground. They say that street vendors are a part of the unofficial economy in Bengaluru and they help a lot of people get jobs and food that they can afford. If we plan the areas where street vendors can sell their stuff well then they can work together with new roads and buildings if the government makes some rules registers all the vendors and gives them basic things like water a way to get rid of trash and lights. Street vendors are important, in Bengaluru. We should make sure they can keep working.

So vendors are asking for a break from the rules until something more permanent is figured out. The vendors and the people in charge of the city and some local leaders will probably talk about this soon. They want to find a way to make things work that is good, for everyone. The vendors have some concerns. They want to find a solution that will last.

As Bengaluru continues to grow and modernise, the debate highlights the challenge of managing urban spaces while protecting livelihoods. The outcome of these discussions may set an important precedent for how Indian cities balance development with inclusive economic opportunities.
